Sailing barge prepares to drop down through the opening in the Army bridge across the Colne connecting Rowhedge with Wivenhoe. This was built by the Royal Engineers during the 1914-18 war but was demolished soon after. Barges then wore red ensigns for identification by patrol vessels.
