TitleCecil Mussett - Mersea seed grower and postman. Part 2
AbstractCecil Mussett continued.
When he finished with seed growing, Cecil started to work for Royal Mail delivering the post. After 5 years mostly working in Colchester, he worked on the island. The Sorting Office was at the back of the Post Office on the corner of Yorick Road [now used for the Post Office counters].
Jane [née Cudmore] talks about being born in Cross Lane - just over the back of Alpine Cottage. The farm house where she lived has since been demolished. Unmade roads on Mersea.
[12m] Alpine Cottage, where the interview is taking place, was once part of the 'old' Fountain.
Talk about Allotments in East Road, then being laid out - and about Beach Huts because Cecil and Jane had a hut on the bottom row near the bottom of Fairhaven Ave, and Tony would often stop to gossip with them.
Cecil retired from the post in 1995. Jane passed away March 2021.
