John Blott 1872 - 1965. John was from Witham and had boating links to Tollesbury. John owned the yacht ALPHA 1924 - 1938 and in 1939 had the motor yacht ESSEX MAID built at Rowhedge Ironworks. However, he had little use of her as the War intervened. She survived the War but John did not want her back in the condition she ws in.
After WW2, he owned the large former yachts MERRYMAID and HEARTSEASE at Tollesbury, a had the SUSAN built - a wooden yacht along the lines of a bawley.
