This is the Last Will and Testament of me Betsey
Green the Wif of Isaac Green of Forham in the County of Essex
Gentleman which I make by virtue of a power reserved to me in and
by the last Will and Testament of my late Father Thomas May of West
Mersea in the said County Esquire bearing date the sixth day of July in
which was in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
thirty six Whereas the said Thomas May in and by his said Will
gave and bequeathed unto his Wife Mary Ann May for the term of her
natural life One Annuity or cleary yearly rent charge of One hundred pounds
issuing out of and from and chargeable upon All that his Farm with
Lands Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereto belonging in West Mersea
aforesaid called Brick House Farm with power of Distress and entry for the
recovery of the said Annuity in the case of nonpayment as for nonpayment
of Rent reserved by Lease for Years such Annuity to be paid half year in
with a proportionable part thereof up t the day of the decease of his said
Wife the first payment to be made upon the quarter day which should first
happen next after his decease And the said Thomas May further charged
his said Farm called Brick House Farm with the payment within six
Calendar months after his decease of the sum of One thousand pounds
to the Trustee or Trustees for the time being for the Settlement made on
the marriage of myself with the said Isaac Green to be applied and
disposed of according to the Trusts powers and provisoes of the said
Settlement which said sum of One thousand pounds the said Thomas
May being one of the Trustees had some time back taken into his own
hands but had regularly paid Interest to myself and the said Isaac
Green for the same ever since And subject to the said Annuity and to
the payment of the said sum of One thousand pounds at the time
aforesaid the said Testator gave and devised the said From called the
Brick House Farm with the Lands Hereditaments and Appurtenances
thereto belonging together wit the great the Rectorial Tythes of Corn
Grain Hay and Wood arising renewing and issuing out of and from
the same unto myself the said Betsey Green and my heirs and assigns with
power to dispose of the same notwithstanding my present or any future
coverture Now I do hearby by virtue of the power so vested in me
Give and Devise unto my said husband Isaac Green All that the
said Farm called the Brick House Farm with the Lands

Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereto belonging situate in West
Mersea aforesaid together with the Great and Rectorial Tythes Corn
Grain Hay and Wood arising renewing and issuing out of and from
the same Subject nevertheless as aforesaid And all other my Estate or
Estates which I may die possessed of and entitled to under or by virtue
of the said Will of the said Thomas May To hold the same and
every part thereof unto the said Isaac Green and his assigns for and
during the term of his natural life he keeping the buildings in repair
and insured from loss or damage by Fire - And from and after the
decease of the said Isaac Green I give and devices all and every the said
Farm and Premises and all other my Real Estate whether in possession
reversion or expectancy not of Copyhold or Customary tenure into my son
Joseph Green and my Son in Law Charles Cock of West Mersea aforesaid
Gentleman and their Heirs Upon trust that they the said Joseph
Green and Charles Cock or the Survivor of them or the Heirs of such Survivor
do and shall with all convenient speed make sale and absolutely dispose
of the same by Public Auction or Private Contact and together or in
parcels as to them or him shall appear most expedient for the most
money and best price that can conveniently be obtained for the same in
with the liberty for them or him if they or he shall think it desirable
to buy in the same or any part thereof at such sale or sales and to
sell the same at any future Auction or Auctions or by Private Contact
without being liable for any deficiency to arise therefrom Also I direct
the said Joseph Green and Charles Cock or the survivor of them or his
Heirs in like manner to sell and dispose of all and every Copyhold
or Customary Lands Tenements and Hereditaments of which I may die
seised or entitled to And I declare that the Receipt or Receipts of
any said Trustees or the Survivor of them or the Heirs of such Survivor
shall be in good and sufficient discharge or good and sufficient
discharges to the purchaser or purchasers of all and every my Estates
hereinbefore devised or directed to be sold who shall not after payment
thereof be obliged to see the application thereof not answerable or
accountable for the misapplication of the same or any part thereof
And as to the monies to arise from the Sale and conversion of all
and every my said Real Estates after payment of the expences attending
the same I direct my said Trustees to stand possessed of the same -

Upon the Trusts the following that is to say, Upon Trust that they the
said Joseph Green and Charles Cock or the Survivor of them on the Executors
or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall place out and invest
the sum of Six hundred pounds part thereof on Government of Good
Real Security with the power to vary such investment for any other of the
like character and do and shall pay the Interest and Dividends thereof
unto my Granddaughter Hannah Louisa Green for and during the term
of her natural life for her sole and exclusive use and benefit whose receipt
alone from time to time shall be good and sufficient discharge for the
same And after her decease Upon trust to divide the same Sum of
Six hundred pounds unto and amongst all her children who shall attain
the age of Twenty one Years and the Issue of any deceased child who may
attain that age equally share and share alike the children of any
deceased child to take the same share as their Parent would have done
if living But in case of my said Grand daughter Hannah Louisa Green
shall die without leaving any Issue her Surviving or if such Issue should
die under the age of Twenty one years then I give and bequeath the said
sum of Six hundred pounds unto and amongst my Children
in equal shares subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained respecting
their original shares in the said trust fund And as to the residue of the
monies so to be obtained as aforesaid I Give and bequeath the same -
unto and equally between all my children in manner following (that
is to say) the shares of my Sons to be paid to them on their attaining
the age of Twenty one Years And as to the shares of my Daughters I
give and bequeath the same unto the said Joseph Green and Charles Cock
Upon Trust they they the said Joseph Green and Charles Cock or the Survivor
of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall
place out and invest the same in their or his names upon Government or
good real security with power to vary such investment for any other of a like
character and pay the Interest Dividends and annual produce thereof into
the proper funds of my said Daughters for and during their natural lives
whose respective receipts alone shall from time to time be a good and
and sufficient discharge for the same And the said Interest and Dividends shall
not be sold anticipated or incumbered not be liable to the Debt Contract or
Engagements of their respective husbands And upon the decease of either o
my said Daughters I give and bequeath the principal money so placed out

and invested unto and between her Children equally share and share alike
the children of any deceased child to take the same share as their parent
would have done if living And if either of my Daughters should die
without leaving issue then I give her Brothesr and Sisters share and share aling Also
direct that the Interest Dividends and annual produce of the parts or
shares of any Infant my be applied for his or her benefit during
Minority And I declare it shall and my be lawful for the said Isaac
Green during his life to grant any Lease or Leases of my Estated called
Brick House Farm or any other my Estates for any Term not exceeding Ten
years in possession provided the Estates be let at their full annual value
and that the Tenant thereof do execute a Counterpart of such Lease And
I do declare that my said Trustees or Executors shall not be answerable the
one for the other of them but each for his own acts receipts and wilful
default only And also that they nor either of them shall not be answerable
for any loss which may happen in the management or execution of the Trusts
of this my Will unless it shall happen through their respective wilful
defaults or negligence And that my said Trustees and Executor and
the Survivor of them or their Heirs Executors and Administrators shall
and may from time to time and by and out of the monies which shall
come to their hands pay themselves and himself all such costs charges
and expenses they or either of them may be put unto or incur in the
execution of the Trusts of this my Will or in relation thereto And I
hereby nominate consitute and appoint my said husband Isaac Green
and the said Joseph Green and Charles Cock Executors of this my Will in
Witness thereof I the said Betsey Green the Testatrix have to his
my last Will and Testament contained in four sheets of paper to the
first three sheets set my hand and to this fourth and the last Sheet my
hand and Sal this 6th day of May One thousand eight hundred and fifty one

for her last Will and Testament in the
presence of us who in her presence at her
request and in the presence of each other
have hereunto subscribed our names as Witness
the words "in equal" and the end of the Eighteenth
line from the top of the third Sheetin having been
first crossed through.

Isaac Green of Fordham in the County of Essex Gentleman Joseph Green of
the same place Gentleman and Charles Cock of West Mersea in the said County
Gentleman the Executors name in the within Will were sworn to the truth thereof
and to the performance thereof and that to the best of their knowledge and
and belief the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased do not amount to the Sum
Fifty pounds. Dated 21st day of February 1852.

The Testatrix died in the
Parish of Fordham in the
County of Essex on the Eleventh
day of January 1852

Proved on the 1st day of March 1852 before the Reverend
Samuel Carr clerk Surrogate by the oaths of Isaac Green
Joseph Green and Charles Cock the Executors to whom Admon
was granted, they being first sworn duly to administer.
