in the name of god amen I Robert George of Coptforde in the County
of Essex yeoman beinge sicke in body but the p[er]fite memorey thanks
be to god there fore doe ordayne and make this my laste will
and teastament in manor and forme as foloweth firste I bequeath
my soule in to the hands of All mighty god my god Creator &
to Jeasus Christe my redemer and my body to be burede in the
Church yeard of Coptforde & [ce]t[era]. It[e]m I give unto An my
wife eight of my beste beace & xl sheepe of my beaste It[e]m
I give unto the sayd An my wife the one halfe of all my
howsold stufe excl excptinge my beste bede w[i]th all the furnitur
standinge in the parlor & my beste tabel beinge a drawing
tabell w[i]th fower joyned stoles/ It[e]m I give unto the sayd An
my wife fower of my beste horse or mares It[e]m I give unto the
sayd An my wife the one halfe of \my/ swine or hogges to remayne
where theye nowe ar untill Michelltid [Michaelmas-tide, 29th September] next It[e]m I give unto
the sayd An my wife x qurtrs of wheate and x qurters of
barley to be delyvred unto hir at michelltid next/ It[e]m I give
more unto the sayd an my wife all that my howse and land
in Peldon, which houldeth of the Manor of Pete hall
\for tarme of hir lyfe/ upon this condicion that she bilde or sete up one newe hall howse
\with in ij years after hir entrey upon the same/
and keepe the reste of the howses in sufficente rep[a]racions and
that she sell noe wood nor timber upon the sayd lands but onley for
Rep[a]racions of the howsses and for the finces\and after hir decease/ I give unto
Walter George my yongeste sonn all those my howses that my howse
and lands afore named which houldeth of the Manor of Pete hall
to him and to his ayers for ever now if it shall happen that An
my wife shall dep[ar]te thes lyfe before that the sayd walter my sonn
shall com to the age of fiften yeares then my will is that Robrte
Pollard my sonn in lawe shall have the one halfe of thease lands
aforenamed for and and towards the bringinge up of the sayd walter
my sonne in good edduecation and larninge and the other halfe of
the sayd lands I give & bequeath unto Robarte George my Eldeste
sonns Childe which nowe is w[i]th me untill the sayd walter my sonne
shall com to the age of fiftene years and that neither of thease
p[ar]tyes afore named shall not sell noe \timbr/ noe wood but for nedfull rep[ar]ati[on]
& finces It[e]m I give unto the sayd An my wife xti of my best
Cheses and one firkin of butter/ It[e]m I give unto walter my
sonne my beste bede and my beste tabell with all the furnitur as
they are in this my will execpted be fore It[e]m I give unto John
George my Eldeste my sonne my lease or tarme of years y[e]t to co[me]
in the farme where in I now dwell Called Bottingham hall in Copt[ford]

Peldon Called by the name of Cottmans to him and his
ayers for ever and if it shall happen that the sayd
walter my sonne shall die w[i]th out ayers of his body

ordred by John Potter and Rafe Burdinge that then

Note
This document tells us that Robert George holds a house and land in Peldon in the Manor of Pete Hall. They are left to his wife for her life and then to his son Walter George.
Documents MARG_371_011 and MARG_372_011 detail the surrender of Rolves (probably Rolls) by Walter George as a Customary Tenant in 1657.
