In the Name of God Amen the Twentie fift day of Aprill 1685 I Thomas
Nun of West Mersey in the County of Essex yeoman being very sick in body but in good &
perfect Memory praise be given unto Almightie God doe make and ordaine this my last
will & Testament in Mannor & forme following First & principally I comitt my soul into
the hands of Almightie God my Maker trusting through His meritorius death & passion
of Jesus Christ my only saviour & redemer to receive a Free pardon & Forgivenesse of all
my sinns And my body unto the Earth out of which it was framed to be buried in decent
buriall at the discretion of my Executrix & friends hereafter named And as for that
Worldly estate which it hath pleased Almightie God of his Free mercie to bestow upon me
I give & bequeath as Followeth Item my minde & will is And do \hereby/ order & appoint John
Preston of West Mersey gent & Thomas Cooke of the same my trustie & welbeloved
friends full power & authorite to sell & dispose of All that my Messuage or Tenement &
seaven\teen/ acres of pasture land & forteen acres of Marsh being Salt Marsh more or lesse w[i]th the
appurtenances therto belonging called by the Name of Nicholas Smyth now in the occupation
of me the said Thomas Nun lying in West Mersey & holden of the Mannor of West Mersey
hall by Coppy of Cort Roll. upon this condition that what Monyes my afforesaid friends
& Trustes shall take & receive for the same shalbe to pay my debts & they the said trustes
satisfieing themselves for ther trouble care & paynes in the sale therof And the rest of the
monys remaining that the afforesaid Messuage lands & p[re]misses are sold for after my debts
be payed & my trustees satisfied I give & bequeath unto my Loveing Wife Sarah Nun
upon condition that she pay unto my two children Thomas Nun & Sarah Nun the sum
of Twenty pounds apiece of Lawfull mony of England when they shall accomplish ther
ages of one & Tewenty years All the rest of my Goods Chattles houshold stuffe & move
ables whatsoever unbequeathed I give & bequeath unto my Loveing Wife Sarah Nun
& doe make her sole Executrix of this my last will & testament revocking all other wills
whatsoever formerly by me made In Witness wherof I have hereunto set my hand &
seal the day & year first above written
