Harry Vince Thorp (born in Little Clacton 1861, died West Mersea 1947). He was a farmers son who became a police constable, and later sergeant, in the Colchester Borough Police Force. He was married at West Mersea in 1888 to Emma Mussett (1859-1940), one of 11 children of William Mussett and Rebecca Traylor, and the couple moved from Colchester to a house called "The Rest" in High Street North.
